Up to three changes could be expected in India’s bowling line-up when they face England in the second Test match, sources told CricBlogger. Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh is likely to come in for pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who might be rested. Even Bengal quick Akash Deep could replace Prasidh Krishna if the Karnataka star doesn’t recover from his niggle, while wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav is being considered in place of seam-bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur.
The final call will depend on pitch conditions and fitness assessments ahead of the match. In light of these developments, Delhi pacer Harshit Rana could have stayed back with the squad as a cover.
On the batting front, however, no changes are expected. The team management is set to persist with the existing combination, including Karun Nair. The only concern is Sai Sudharsan’s shoulder injury — while he remains available to bat, he is currently unable to throw from the deep, limiting his outfield involvement.
Despite that, the think-tank is not inclined to alter the top order, and Sudharsan is likely to retain his place unless ruled out by medical staff.
