Kuldeep isn’t only bowling well but also toying with the minds of his opponent. Against LSG, he bowled four overs, conceded 20 runs and took three top players like KL Rahul, Nicolas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis. Again against DC, he came good with the ball but couldn’t take a wicket. When rest of the bowlers like Mukesh Kumar, Ishant Sharma and Tristan Stubbs are all amongst wickets, Kuldeep still made a mark by bowling four overs and giving away only 16 runs.
The debate whether to pick Ravi Bishnoi ahead of Kuldeep as the wrist spinner rages on but the selectors at the end of it, may have to go ahead with both of them. India team needs slow bowlers to conquer the Caribbeans and the spinners could be the key. Who else is suited better to play this role other than Kuldeep?
The way the ball is coming out of his hand even the best of the batters like Ben Stokes can’t read him. A lot of batters still find it easy to read Bishnoi as he is often called in the circuit as ‘googly bowler’ but Kuldeep has created a niche for himself. “You have to read his hand to play him well otherwise it is tough to read Kuleep off the wicket,” his childhood coach Kapil Pandey often says. So, how can the Indian team board the flight to the West Indies without Kuldeep?
