Aditya Verma, secretary of Cricket Association of Bihar, has appealed to the BCCI Electoral Officer to prevent Rakesh Kumar Tiwari, president of the Bihar Cricket Association, from participating in the upcoming board election.
“The current president of BCA has lost the legal as well as the moral mandate to represent BCA in the BCCI elections,” Verma wrote in his three-page letter to the Electoral Officer on Wednesday.
“The issues raised regarding the BCA are of serious concern, particularly in the light of the Patna High Court’s recent judgment highlighting corruption and unethical practices within the association,” Verma wrote.
“The High Court has unequivocally identified significant shortcomings in the administration of the BCA, including unethical practices and corruption,” Verma, who has been waging an anti-corruption battle in the cricket association, stated.
“His conduct, coupled with unresolved questions about his eligibility, makes it clear that allowing Tiwari to represent BCA in the upcoming BCCI elections would undermine the integrity of both the BCA and the broader cricketing governance structure. He has already demonstrated a disregard for the rules that govern the BCA and allowing him to continue in any representative capacity would further erode trust in the association’s leadership,” he wrote and added, “Therefore, Rakesh Kumar Tiwari should not be permitted to represent BCA in the BCCI election until these serious concerns are fully resolved in an appropriate forum.”
Verma stated that barring Tiwari was in the larger interest of the game. “These steps are crucial not only to uphold the rule of law but also to ensure that cricket is administered with fairness, transparency and accountability that it deserves,” he wrote.
