In a significant development ahead of the Delhi Premier League (DPL), a consortium led by Savita Paints Private Limited secured the Outer Delhi franchise for ₹10.6 crore, while another consortium comprising Bheema Tolling and Traffic won the rights to the New Delhi zone franchise for ₹9.2 crore. The bidding took place at the Ferozeshah Kotla on Saturday, with both deals signaling growing commercial interest in the regional T20 tournament.
The DPL has officially become the richest T20 league in India after the IPL, with total franchise sales now touching ₹69.5 crore. Last year, the DDCA sold six teams for ₹49.6 crore. On Saturday, two more franchises were auctioned, adding another ₹19.8 crore to the DDCA’s kitty.
With growing commercial interest and rising valuations, the Delhi Premier League has firmly established itself as the second-most lucrative T20 league in the country.
