The controversy surrounding Mohammad Azharuddin, particularly in relation to the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) and the FIR filed against him, seems to be a politically motivated move within his own state. The allegations of misappropriation of funds, especially regarding the work order for gym equipment issued by the HCA, were seemingly directed at him as his opponents tried to undermine his election campaign.

The timing of these actions, especially the sudden payment of over ₹20 lakh in pending salary to the CEO just before the HCA elections, raises questions about the motive behind these moves.
In fact, speculation about a political vendetta cannot be ruled out. Given the sensitive timing, this could very well be an attempt to keep Azharuddin away from securing a prominent position, either in cricket administration or in Telangana politics. The fact that the court granted bail and exposed the flimsy nature of the case points to the possibility that these accusations were indeed politically motivated.
The speculation surrounding the relationship between Azharuddin and BCCI secretary Jay Shah seems to have been fueled by recent events and political maneuvers. While there’s no concrete evidence of a rift, it’s not entirely surprising that people are questioning if everything is well between the two. Azharuddin, once a candidate for the BCCI presidency before Roger Binny took over, was indeed seen as a prominent figure who could represent Indian cricket at the highest level.
