The power struggle within Chennai Super Kings is taking an intriguing turn. After CricBlogger reported that their former captain MS Dhoni was not informed about the trade involving Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson — a move that left him red-faced — fresh developments suggest that “Thala” may not feature in any of the remaining six games this season.
If that holds true, it could also mark the end of Dhoni’s story in IPL. Interestingly, the narrative around a calf injury appears increasingly stretched. Dhoni has been seen training with the squad, yet remains absent from match action.
Around ten days ago, there were murmurs that he might at least turn up for the final two league matches. However, even that now seems uncertain, with the calf injury narrative resurfacing once again — raising more questions than answers.
Sources told CricBlogger that former Stephen Fleming captain Stephen Fleming may not continue as head coach of Chennai Super Kings if the internal power struggle persists. None of the CSK officials were available for comment.
Interestingly, some voices within the franchise suggest that MS Dhoni is preparing for a return once his calf injury heals. However, given his long-standing reputation for playing through pain — including with an injured finger in the past — his complete absence from matchdays raises questions. It hints that there may be more to the situation than just fitness concerns.
There is also speculation about a potential ownership change next year. A southern India–based business house is believed to be interested in acquiring a stake in CSK, with Dhoni possibly taking on a central role in the new structure.
Only time will determine the power struggle within Chennai Super Kings — a situation that has already unsettled their fan base, especially with MS Dhoni missing from action. For now, patience seems to be the only remedy.

CSK not doing well because they don’t have good pool of players, they have not been with auctions over few years. Dhoni remains a centre figure for CSK but not as important to their performance as was couple of years back. We will be seeing ownership changes in almost all teams because high appreciation-in team values
