Former South African captain Faf du Plessis will lead Delhi Capitals in 2025 IPL season, sources told CricBlogger on Thursday. After a series of deliberations, the team management has decided to go ahead with Faf as its leader.
Earlier, Faf captained the Royal Challengers Bangalore which played the knock-out stages. Delhi would be exploring a similar opportunity this season with Faf emerging as the top contender to lead. Indian stumper Rishabh Pant was the captain last year.
Delhi is also one of the third teams from the original set-up not to win a single IPL like Punjab Kings and RCB. “The announcement of Faf’s name is going to happen very soon,” the source said.
