India winning all matches in the league stage of an ICC event isn’t a big news anymore. It is like we have been there done that type. What is important for India is to win the tournament. Anything short of that is just going to be another embarrassment. For the Aussies, the Indian cricket team is just another opponent who would never win the big event.
India not able to cross over the winning line in big tournaments is so embarrassing that only a win in the ongoing T20 World Cup will restore some pride. Otherwise, it is back to square kind of a story.
In other words, it can’t be a repeat of the 2023 World Cup at home for the Men in Blue. They will have to mean business. Till last year, there used to be a lot of shuffling in the middle-order but that has thankfully stopped. As Yuvraj Singh has told CricBlogger that in pressure games, every player has to perform.
“We won T20 and the 2011 World Cup because of the fact that we had a team with good openers, a solid middle-order and a combination of good bowlers,” Yuvraj had told CricBlogger months before the 2023 World Cup at home.
If that is the secret recipe to success in knock-out matches, the Indian team should make the most of Yuvraj Singh who is a brand ambassador of this T20 version. The onus will be on allrounders, which again Yuvraj had said as the reason behind India’s success during his heydays.
“In our time, a batter like me and Suresh Raina could bowl while bowlers could also bat and create more impact as a team,” Yuvraj had elucidated while explaining the succes mantra of having utility players in the team.
Like before, the Indian team is again looking promising on paper, and showing great signs of maturity. The players aren’t doing things in a rush. Rohit Sharma and his men now know it well that they will have to play the waiting game in the US after getting set at the crease. There is nothing more sweet than everyone once again getting together and celebrating the festival called T20 World Cup.
There are no qualms about his team and about their winning changes. “This Cup got to be India’s this time,” former Indian captain Surinder Khanna said while adding that all is well that ends well!
