Rishabh Pant was on fire again!
Against the Gujarat Titans, Pant showed the world how ready he is for the T20 World Cup. The selectors, now, can’t delay much in announcing his name as their first-choice wicket-keeper batsman for Team India. So, what if the white ball numbers aren’t that great? Who cares about the past? Nothing is as old as yesterday’s performance and Pant knows it all. Otherwise, he won’t have performed after surviving the car crash, the way he is doing it in the ongoing IPL.
There is absolutely no fear of failure inside Pant’s mind. He was always fearless and is now looking to be more lion-hearted than before. After having missed a lot of cricket for nearly one-and-half years, Pant is hungry for runs. What then is the major difference between Pant of old and Pant now? The way he is pacing his innings is something remarkable.
Of course, T2o is all about hitting, but getting into a good position to execute your shots that too with such mental clarity is alarming for the opposition bowler. Ask Gujarat’s Mohit Sharma and he will tell you more about how Pant is unstoppable. In other words, Pant has become the X factor for India in the upcoming World Cup.
Forget about reading the length early, those who were suspecting that Pant was a little rusty, the Delhi Capital captain cleared the air with a resounding knock against Gujarat. That too with utmost ease. Pant’s knock was so powerful that even the Indian team management might be tempted to make him bat at N0.4, which is a very crucial batting position for any team. He has got the technique and temperament to do so. All this while, Pant was clubbed in Virender Sehwag’s category of playing Test cricket better than white ball. Wednesday’s knock may have changed the perception about Pant completely. He is a perfect package for T20 and ODI too and time will tell us more!
