In a surprise development, former Delhi cricketer and Jammu & Kashmir representative Mithun Manhas has emerged as the frontrunner to become the next president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), sources within the board told CricBlogger.
The decision, which took shape after a series of internal deliberations among board officials, comes as a significant move, placing a former first-class stalwart and administrator at the helm of Indian cricket.
According to insiders, the BCCI’s existing leadership structure will largely remain unchanged. Devajit Saikia will continue as the BCCI secretary, while veteran administrator Rajeev Shukla will retain his position as vice-president. The influential post of IPL chairman will remain with Arun Dhumal, who has been widely credited with strengthening the league’s commercial and global reach.
