Beware, Beware, Beware! Fake bats are in circulation and the performance of players, who use such fake equipment, could be affected. It has come to light that a huge market for counterfeit Sanspareils Greenlands (SG) bats has emerged, deceiving customers with low-quality imitations.
SG, the world’s leading cricket equipment-making company and which is in Meerut, is known for producing high-performance bats for cricketers of all levels. The company discovered that these fakes were being sold at premium prices. It is revealed that this practice has been in circulation for a long time and steps are being taken to curb this malpractice. At least, discussions have begun at the SG headquarters.
SG has urged customers to verify the barcode at all costs on SG bats or any product before purchasing, warning that bats without barcodes are 100% fake. Co-owner Paras Anand expressed concern for customers who unknowingly buy counterfeit SG bats. He emphasized on the precision and quality of authentic SG products. “Our customers will always make the right choice and buying fake bats isn’t their cup of tea,” Paras said.
Anand also warned that customers are often paying 40-50% less for these fakes, and stressed the importance of checking barcodes on all SG products, including leather cricket balls, to ensure genuine purchases and avoid aiding counterfeit sales.
Anand stressed that a reality check is essential to prevent the proliferation of fake products, ensuring that customers receive genuine SG quality and value for their money. Also, SG has issued a strong warning that this vigilance extends to all their products, including leather cricket balls, and advises checking the barcode when buying from non-official stores.
Sellers of fake SG bats should beware: selling counterfeit products is illegal, harms customers, and damages SG’s reputation. Always ensure the authenticity of SG products by verifying the barcode. “We put a lot of sweat into preparing our products and we have been doing so for over 90 years. I would earnestly request those who are doing this malpractice to stop fooling the world and start following the right process of reaching out to the customers,” Paras said.
SG also has a quality check section before all the products are distributed to different parts of the world. “Everyone should respect the distribution system. A quality bat is made after a lot of hard work, and making a copy of it is a crime. Those who are into it should be careful. The law can catch up with you anytime. We are also in touch with the administration and police and the customers should stay vigilant,” Paras advised before signing out.
