Aditya Verma asked the BCCI to take cognisance of the Patna High Court order on corruption and mismanagement in the Bihar Cricket Association.
Verma’s email to BCCI Secretary Jay Shah is in response to the Patna High Court’s recent appointment of retired judge Shailesh Kumar Sinha as Ombudsman for the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA), a move aimed at enhancing accountability and stability within the association.
Verma’s email highlights the serious concerns raised by the court regarding BCA’s functioning, specifically criticising Rakesh Kumar Tiwary. Verma urges Jay Shah to take cognisance of the court order and act against the alleged malpractices in BCA, emphasising the need for the BCCI to address the corruption and administrative issues plaguing Bihar cricket.
“In the light of Hon’ble Patna high court’s order, come forward and take necessary action against the culprits of Bihar Cricket Association. It is very shocking in the order Hon’ble Patna High Court passed a harsh comment on BCA specially against Rakesh Kumar Tiwary,” Verma wrote in his email to BCCI.
He also rued that BCCI needs to do something to end this anarchy in Bihar to support and make the cricket system robust. “Why is BCCI continuing to support Rakesh Kumar Tiwary?, Verma asked. “Because of this, BCCI is facing criticism of Hon’ble Patna high court (order dated 5th August 24 in CWJC 13405/21),” Verma said.
He also questions BCCI’s continued support for Tiwary despite the court’s harsh comments and the ongoing allegations of fund embezzlement and bribery in player selections. Verma’s appeal highlights the urgency for the BCCI to develop a comprehensive plan to eliminate corruption and ensure a robust cricket system in Bihar.
