‘There appear to be serious anomalies in the last election held by the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA). Not only were the elections allegedly not conducted in accordance with the Lodha Committee recommendations, but at least 31 members who had failed to attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the past five years — as required under the association’s rules — were allowed to vote in the elections.
Sources said that the JSCA, which is registered under the state government, had adopted the Lodha Committee recommendations in principle and agreed to abide by the BCCI’s guidelines. Although the association received an acknowledgement slip from the state government after submitting the amended constitution, the Lodha-compliant amendments were never formally approved. As a result, when the elections were held last year, they were not conducted in accordance with the Lodha reforms.
Sources also alleged that the JSCA is going the Bihar way, with the state association not functioning in accordance with the Lodha reforms. “This is alarming, and a court case is already pending. There has to be transparency in the functioning of state cricket associations; otherwise, the game will suffer,” the source said.
CricBlogger understands that petitions have been filed even in the Supreme Court the reply filed by JSCA isn’t satisfactory. An intervention from BCCI is a must in these states for transparency.
