He is a giant in T20 cricket — a proven big-match player with an even bigger heart. Afghanistan cricketer Rashid Khan, one of the game’s biggest brand ambassadors, is much more than just a wicket-taking machine in the middle overs. He stands out as a rare cricketer who goes out of his way to support fellow players and is always ready to champion causes that uplift and promote the game.
One such moment unfolded in Chandigarh on Thursday. On just two days’ notice, Rashid agreed to visit an SG dealer in Mohali — Cricketershop.com — a gesture that might not seem like a big deal to some, but one that many cricketers would have politely declined.
But Rashid is cut from a different cloth. Whether it’s patiently answering questions from aspiring young cricketers or advising his countryman and CSK spinner Noor Ahmad to avoid bowling no-balls, Rashid is always willing to give back to the game in any way he can.
One thing Rashid continues to do with remarkable consistency is excel with the ball in T20 cricket. While some teams believed they had finally figured him out — especially during the early stages of IPL 2025 when he was seen leaking runs — Rashid proved them wrong when it mattered most. At the business end of the tournament, a different Rashid emerged.
It was as if the old Rashid had risen from the ashes — bowling quicker, more accurately, and with renewed intensity. But when it comes to kids asking about the nuances of the game, Rashid doesn’t hold back. He’s more than happy to share insights about his bowling, signing autographs, telling them cricket stories and pose for selfies.
